Advisory for IoT and Hardware Startups

I advise founders of IoT and hardware startups as an advisor, mentor or outside director. Spot consultations are free.

When it helps most

• You have a prototype and do not know what to do next.
• You want to sort out your plan before meeting investors.
• You have not started a company yet, or have no hardware experience. That is fine.

What we can work on

• How long and how much it will really take to reach mass production and certification (EMC, safety, radio: Japan's TELEC/MIC, FCC, CE).
• Choosing and managing EMS/ODM partners in Japan and Shenzhen; BOM and cost.
• Which investors to approach, in what order, with what story; which deal terms to watch.
• Building the team.

How it works

• First, a free spot consultation (online or in person).
• If it makes sense, continued engagement as an advisor or mentor, or as an outside director. Terms are agreed case by case.
• Angel investment is possible in some cases.
• I reply within about five business days. My capacity is limited, so I may not be able to take every request.
